| Pos. Player, class | Player, class |
| WR Xavier Townsend, Sr. | De’Nylon Morrissette, Sr. |
| WR Asaad Waseem, Jr. | Jesse Watson, So. |
| WR Bisi Owens, Sr. | Brandon Kinsey, Fr. |
| TE George Burhenn, Jr. | Luca Puccinelli, So. |
| LT Joey Tanona, Sr. | Jude McCoskey, Sr. |
| LG Marques Easley, So. | Marc Nave, So. |
| C Boaz Stanley, Sr. | Ethan Trent, Jr. |
| RG Micah Banuelos, Jr. | Makai Saina, So. |
| RT Nuku Mafi, So. | Jatavius Shivers, Jr. |
| QB Ryan Browne, Jr. | Evans Chuba, So. |
| RB Fame Ijeboi, So. | Antonio Harris, Jr. |

NOTES:
QUARTERBACK: Browne is the unquestioned QB1, a far cry from this time last year when he was being wooed back from North Carolina to compete with Malachi Singleton. Browne has bulked up to better handle the rigors of the Big Ten. His backup? It’s a derby between Chubba and Bennett Meredith.
RUNNING BACK: Yes, Devin Mockobee has left the building. But don’t weep. There appears to be plenty of talent on hand obtained via the portal. Ijeboi (Minnesota) has impressed the most. Jerrick Gibson (Texas) looks the part but you get the sense he has ground to make up. Travis Terrell is more of a gadget, a diminutive back (5-9, 170) who figures to be used in space and as a return man. And don’t forget about Harris, the lone veteran. The former walk-on is ready for more. Talented freshman Izaiah Wright will be hard-pressed to find reps

RECEIVER: So many moving parts for a unit with a lot to prove. Staffers have been quick to tip their hat to newbies Townsend (Iowa State) and Waseem (Florida Atlantic). Yes, Owens (Penn) won’t get to campus until May, but some murmur he may be the best of them all. Purdue looks like it landed a gem in Kinsey. Morrissette’s knee is still a bit wonky, and Chauncey Magwood is not yet 100 percent either after injury ruined his 2025. The wispy Watson is a staff favorite who got hurt in spring drills; he may be ready for more. Ditto Tra’Mar Harris and Corey Smith, who has battled consistency issues. Know this: JC Ricky Sampson Jr. will arrive in May.
TIGHT END: Burhenn looks primed and ready to finally push the limits of his vast athletic ability. Puccinelli is a de facto lineman. Kylan Fox is built like Burhenn, more lithe athlete than burly blocker. Purdue will welcome two prep tight ends in May: Ar’Mari Towns and Cooper McCutchan. Can either help now?
LINE: There are six portal additions and a new coach in Zach Crabtree. Will that translate into improvement? Tanona is the best of the bunch but was limited in the spring coming off shoulder surgery. Easley looks primed to be an interior anchor. Stanley (South Carolina) is the unquestioned center. The right side of the front is anchored by transfers, too, in Banuelos (USC) and Mafi (Oklahoma State). Depth looks to be augmented with McCoskey and Trent leading the way.
