UConn Football TE Alex Honig to enter Transfer Portal
The Transfer Portal still doesn’t open for a few more weeks, but that hasn’t stopped players from announced their intentions to enter when the portal window opens on January 2nd.
UConn Football tight end Alex Honig becomes the latest Husky to announce that he will be entering the portal, a source tell the UConn Report.
The 6-foot-7, 270-pound tight end hails from Bavaria, Germany and played for the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, an American football youth team where he was a quarterback prospect and committed to TCU as a member of the 2021 class.

The Germany native went on to spent two seasons with the Horned Frogs, where he was forced to redshirt due to injury in 2021 and then appeared in 12 games as a tight end in year two in 2022.
Honig went on to transfer to UConn ahead of the 2023 season, but after two games with the program, he got hurt again and would miss the rest of that season. He would go on to appear in 23 total games over the next seasons. This past year, Honig hauled in 13 receptions for 162 yards and three touchdowns.
Honig will have one year of eligibility remaining to play elsewhere.
