No. 22 Texas (6-2) needed overtime to defeat the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 45-38, in Starkville on Saturday night. Here’s what the players had to say.

“I just knew something had to be done. I feel like I was messing before the game. So, when coach talked to me before the punt return, he was like ‘take the ball to the wall’. And all I did was trust him.”

“It feels great to just come out here and showcase my speed, my ability, that I have.”

Anthony Hill Jr, LB

“I’ll say that’s a culture win where we play all four quarters. When the fourth quarter came up and we were down 17, everybody looked at each other with the confidence and knew that we were going to win this game and comeback.”

“I’ve been trusting (Caldwell) because I’ve seen how he prepares and practices. I mean, he does extras arms, extra curls (in the weight room). He’s the last one in the meeting room. I trust him. I know he knows when his time is going to come.” – on quarterback Matthew Caldwell

“I think we hit on the nail with the culture win again. You know it took everybody to fight to the last second. I think that was our biggest thing.”

“I think it starts at the beginning of the week. The preparation, and then just in the game, just being tuned in to what is going on. Reading the defense from the sideline and just getting all the information I can with Arch on the sidelines. Keeping the guys ready with juice. And when your number is called, go out and execute.”
