Nebraska forward Natalie Potts will redshirt in 2025-26 season
Nebraska Women’s Basketball forward Natalie Potts is officially redshirting in the 2025-26 season. She will return to the Huskers’ roster for the 2026-27 season and have three seasons of eligibility.
Potts suffered an ACL injury in Nebraska’s fifth game of the 2024-25 season. The redshirt sophomore’s rehabilitation has taken longer than expected, keeping her from the court this season.
“I am making slow but steady progress, and I appreciate the thoughts and encouragement of Husker fans everywhere,” Potts said. “I love my teammates and coaches and will give them my full support as we push for the postseason. So I really want to be out there fighting to win with them, but I am just not in a position to do that yet.”

The Huskers hoped Potts would rejoin practice in the middle of the 2025-26 season. However, she has been struggling to regain her strength.
“Natalie is working diligently and progressing with her rehabilitation,” Nebraska Coach Amy Williams said. “At this time, we believe that it is in the best interest of her long-term health to give her more time to continue to progress and gain confidence with her return to full participation.”

In her first four games in 2024-25, she averaged 14.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while shooting 68% from the field and 72% from three.
The O’Fallon, Mo. native will be a critical part of the 2026-27 Nebraska team and beyond. Guard Allison Weidner is also projected to return for her final season of college basketball next season. She has suffered three ACL tears since joining NU in 2021.
Next up, Nebraska (16-5, 5-5) travels to Columbus, Ohio to take on the Buckeyes on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. CT on the Big Ten Network.
