Arkansas men’s basketball 2026 signee JJ Andrews will miss more time than expected following a scary injury, according to his father.

The Little Rock Christian superstar is currently recovering after exiting the Warriors’ non-conference game against Fayetteville in the Hoopin’ on the Hill Kretschmar Invitational in an ambulance on Friday after he was fouled and fell hard to floor on an attempted dunk.

Andrews was immediately tended to and conscious talking with first responders while collecting himself on the floor and initial CT scans came back normal, according to a report from WholeHogSports.com. He was diagnosed with a concussion and sent home to rest.

An update posted Saturday on X stated that Andrews “is alert & coherent” but “will be out for at least a week.”

However, his father – legendary Arkansas offensive lineman Shawn Andrews – posted to Facebook on Sunday that another injury sustained will keep his son out as JJ “did indeed fracture his shooting wrist, so he could be out of action for possibly 4 weeks or so…..,” the elder Andrews’ post said.

The more important news is that JJ Andrews will be okay in the long run, but it is still a very tough blow for the 6-foot-7 wing who is off to an incredible start to the 2025-2026 season, averaging 33.4 points and 15.8 rebounds with 3.1 assists in eight games played.

The nation’s eighth-best prospect in his class, per Rivals, has compiled a prolific career during his time as a Warrior. He has earned All-State honors three times and multiple Player of the Year awards while helping the program win back-to-back Class 4A state titles in 2023 and 2024, then finish in the 5A quarterfinals after moving up last season when the Warriors fell to eventual state champion Benton. Along with being a two-time Peach Jam Tournament champion in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, Andrews earned EYBL MVP honors in 2025 while leading Bradley Beale Elite on a championship run.

Andrews committed to Arkansas in May over LSU and Missouri, then officially signed with the Hogs in November.
