USC defensive end Anthony Lucas accepts Shrine Bowl invitation
USC Trojans defensive end Anthony Lucas accepted his invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl following the season.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound senior finished the 2025 regular season with 37 tackles, including 3.5 for loss and three sacks. He led the Trojans with seven quarterback hurries and had both a forced fumble and fumble recovery. This was by far the most productive season of his career as he came into the season with 36 tackles and zero sacks through his first three seasons.
Lucas will join linebacker Eric Gentry as USC Trojans participating in the East-West Shrine Bowl this season. The veteran defensive end has not opted out of the Valero Alamo Bowl against TCU on December 30, but head coach Lincoln Riley said Lucas hopes to play as he works his way through an injury.

The Shrine Bowl will take place Tuesday, January 27, at Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas. It will air on NFL Network.
USC did not have a participant in the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl, but three Trojans were involved in the 2024 event. Defensive end Solomon Byrd, cornerback Christian Roland-Wallace and wide receiver Tahj Washington all participated that year. Byrd and Washington were eventual NFL draft picks while Roland-Wallace signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent and is still on the Kansas City roster.
