Jaimeon Winfield finishes 2026 recruiting cycle as a Rivals 5-star prospect
USC Trojans defensive line signee Jaimeon Winfield finished the 2026 recruiting cycle as a Rivals 5-star.
The 6-foot-3, 325-pound interior defensive lineman is the nation’s No. 11 overall prospect and saw a jump from No. 38 in the penultimate rankings to land there in the final edition. He’s also the nation’s No. 2 defensive lineman, just one spot behind No. 10 overall prospect and LSU signee Lamar Brown.
When Winfield committed to USC back in March of 2025, he was the No. 84 overall prospect and No. 7 defensive lineman. He just kept climbing the rankings from that point as USC held off charge after charge from other programs looking to flip him. Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Georgia, Michigan, Miami, Alabama and many other schools chased Winfield, who stuck with USC and defensive line coach Eric Henderson, who was the first coach to offer.
Prior to this 2026 class, USC had not signed a five-star defensive lineman since Korey Foreman in the 2021 recruiting class. Last year, defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart became Lincoln Riley’s highest-ranked interior defensive line signee at USC when he finished the 2025 cycle ranked No. 47 in the On300 and No. 33 in the Industry Ranking. Defensive end Braylan Shelby was ranked No. 37 in the On300 and No. 65 in the 2023 Industry Ranking.

When Winfield committed to USC, his head coach Kendrick Holloway told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong: “He’s a kid, he’s very athletic. The sky is the limit for him. Has a really great ball get off. That helps with timing and athleticism. He’s a guy we can move and play any position on the d-line. For us he’s an interior guy but he’s also athletic enough to play end. He’s special from that standpoint. When you put his athletic ability and natural strength and power as well, that’s a great combination to have especially for an interior guy.”
Scout’s Take: “Winfield has been a prospect for us that has continued to trend upward throughout his senior season, and he put a cherry on top of an incredible high school career with a stellar performance in the Navy All-American Bowl. Winfield earned the number two spot on the Rivals Navy All-American Bowl final top performers list by being a completely unstoppable force along the defensive front throughout the week. His combination of size and burst off the line of scrimmage allows him to knife through blockers with vertical disruption.
…The pad level, paired with his length, allows him to gain leverage at the point of attack consistently in the run game and makes him so tough to remove from his spot. Winfield has every opportunity to walk into a college program and become a three-down enforcer capable of being a disruptor in the run and pass game the moment he steps on campus.” — Cody Bellaire, Rivals National Scout
