2026 four-star guard Marcus Johnson, a Cleveland native, is officially heading to South Carolina. He ended up choosing the Gamecocks instead of schools like Ohio State, Alabama, Indiana, Syracuse, Illinois, and a handful of others that were in the mix. There’s already a family tie in Columbia. Marcus is the cousin of current South Carolina guard Meechie Johnson, who has been one of the main pieces for Lamont Paris this season. Meechie just dropped a career-best 33 points against Southern Miss, and the two cousins have stayed close for years. That relationship along with the direction the program is moving helped push Marcus toward the Gamecocks.
