South Carolina women's basketball: Future Gamecock Jerzy Robinson sets scoring record

South Carolina women’s basketball commit Jerzy Robinson set an impressive record in a win on Thursday evening.

On Thursday, Robinson scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Sierra Canyon’s 92-35 win over Chaminade. Despite missing the beginning of the season with an ankle injury, Robinson now has 2,355 career points.

What makes the record most impressive is who Robinson passed.

Robinson passed Southern Cal standout Juju Watkins, who had 2,322 points, for the record. Watkins went on to set the NCAA freshman scoring record and has averaged 25.6 points in her career, the sixth-highest mark in NCAA history.

Sierra Canyon retired Watkins’ number 12 on January 11. Watkins is the first player to have her number retired by the school.

Robinson transferred to Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles in 2023 after playing her freshman season at Desert Vista in Phoenix. That year, she led Desert Vista to a state championship. 

Robinson scored 683 points as a freshman. She has scored 1,672 points at Sierra Canyon. Watkins also transferred to Sierra Canyon in the middle of her high school career, but the school includes the points scored for other teams in its records.

Former Gamecock Destiny Littleton is California’s all-time high school basketball scoring leader, boys and girls, with 4,300 points.

Earlier in the week, Robinson was named to the Naismith Trophy Girls High School Player of the Year Midseason Team.

Last Friday, Dawn Staley and the Gamecock coaching staff attended Sierra Canyon’s game at the HoopHall Classic. In that game, Robinson recorded 33 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and three steals. 

The 6-1 guard is ranked third in the 2026 class by Rivals and fifth by ESPN. Like Watkins, Robinson is a physically imposing guardwith an NBA-style game.
