Shane Beamer gives more in-depth update on Nyck Harbor, Dylan Stewart on call-in show

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer was confident on Sunday that the Gamecocks will have wide receiver Nyck Harbor and defensive end Dylan Stewart available for this Saturday’s rivalry matchup with Clemson.

On Tuesday afternoon, during his weekly press conference, Beamer reiterated that.

And on Tuesday night, the fifth-year head coach provided a few more details on his call-in show.

“I certainly don’t want to jinx us because we’re doing this on Tuesday and we’ve got two more days of practice, but as of right now, everybody’s good to go,” Beamer said. “Dylan practiced today. Nyck practiced today. (Brandon) Cisse practiced today. Jalewis (Solomon) was limited; he’s probably doubtful still for Saturday. But those other guys, as we sit here on Tuesday night, we fully expect to be available on Saturday.”

Both players missed the Gamecocks’ 51-7 win over Coastal Carolina this past weekend.

Harbor finished the Texas A&M game with three catches for a career-high 102 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown catch and run he had in the second quarter that gave South Carolina a 27-3 lead at the time.

But he exited and was ultimately taken to the hospital as a precaution following a scary landing on his final catch of the game, a late fourth-down conversion for the Gamecocks.

Stewart has been dealing with nagging injuries since at least the Oklahoma game, which he exited with a hip issue. He then was on the Friday availability report before the Ole Miss game, but played against the Rebels and Texas A&M.

The SEC Network reported during the Coastal game that it’s a nagging back injury and Stewart was spotted on the sideline with a brace around his lower back.

Other than holding those two out, Carolina entered this past weekend’s game a relatively healthy football team. Reserve defensive back Jalewis Solomon has been out the last couple of weeks, but hasn’t played a big role this year, and offensive tackle Cason Henry has been out since the Missouri game.

South Carolina will close out the season with the 122nd edition of the Palmetto Bowl against Clemson next Saturday, Nov. 29, at Williams-Brice Stadium. Kickoff is at noon on SEC Network.
