Johnson, who committed publicly back in June, could play multiple positions for defensive backs coach Torrian Gray. The Rivals Industry Ranking lists him as a cornerback prospect. In the composite, he sits as the No. 513 overall player in the class of 2026. Johnson is also the No. 50 national cornerback recruit. In Alabama, he ranks as the No. 18 player in the cycle, regardless of position

Why South Carolina? Johnson previously told GamecockCentral: “Coach (Torrian) Gray, that man knows ball. If you sit in on a meeting with Coach Gray, you’re going to learn so much ball, it’s crazy. Coach Gray is my dog. I’ve talked to him multiple times over the phone; this was like our third or fourth meeting. He really knows his scheme and his defense, and what he’s looking for in his DBs. I’m just ready to get there and compete.”
