Four-star South Carolina commitment sets Gamecock official visit
Class of 2027 Springfield (GA) Effingham County standout and South Carolina football commitment Jernard Albright has joined the group of players who have set official visits with the Gamecocks.
According to the talented defender’s social media announcement, he will be on campus the weekend of June 19. That is the final June weekend of official visit season. It is also the same weekend that fellow four-star defensive back commit Aamaury Fountain will be on campus.
Albright was the first commitment for South Carolina this cycle. He had double-digit other power conference offers available to him when he picked USC. That number has grown to 15. Albright has appeared locked in with the Gamecocks since his Christmas Day decision.
The Insiders Forum: Discuss South Carolina football!
As a player, Albright brings an impressive combination of size and athleticism to the table. At 6-2 and 205 pounds with long arms, he has the type of build defensive backs coach/co-defensive coordinator Torrian Gray covets in his position room. He also flies around the field, playing sideline to sideline against the run and covering significant ground in coverage.

Albright’s most impressive trait is his physicality. He delivers big hits, both in run support and in efforts to separate would-be receivers from the football.
According to the Rivals300, Albright is the No. 97 overall player in the class of 2027. He is also No. 7 nationally among all safety prospects. Albright ranks as the No. 10 recruit, regardless of position, in the talent-rich state of Georgia.
The Rivals Industry Ranking—a composite average of the rankings from Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN—isn’t quite as high on Albright. Even so, he is the No. 160 player in the cycle and the No. 15 safety. Albright is a unanimous four-star prospect.
