On Monday, South Carolina football extended a scholarship offer to class of 2028 East Laurens (GA) East Dublin product Bryson Hazley. The versatile Peach State standout announced the offer via social media.

The USC offer is Hazley’s sixth overall and third among power conference programs. The Georgia Bulldogs and Virginia Tech Hokies are the other two. Ironically for the Gamecocks, his primary recruiter at UGA is former Carolina defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson.

Listed at 6-2 and 185 pounds, Hazley plays multiple defensive back spots and wide receiver at the high school level and has some experience at quarterback, too. His best film comes on the defensive side of the football, and the recruiting industry lists him as a cornerback.

As a corner, Hazley has really nice positional size. He looks even bigger on film and seems like he could add good weight without much issue. His instincts and ball skills also help make up for a lack of elite speed. However, with two more years of development before he reaches the college level, Hazley’s smooth athleticism indicates that there is more speed to unlock.

Hazley also plays basketball at a high level at East Laurens. His ability to high-point the football (on offense and defense) is reminiscent of a basketball player skying for a rebound. He also moves comfortably in traffic like a hooper working his way through a crowded lane.

First-team all-region defensive back honors came for Hazley this season. He also earned an invitation to the Georgia Elite Classic All-Star Games.

The recruiting industry has not yet ranked Hazley, but with power conference offers rolling in, it seems likely that will change soon. Illustrating that point, the Prep Redzone site for Georgia has listed him as a future riser.
