Class of 2027 defensive back Brandon “BJ” Allen Jr. is a product of Westlake High School in Atlanta, the same school that produced South Carolina women’s basketball stars Raven Johnson and Ta’Niya Latson. He is also a Mississippi State football commitment.

On Wednesday, Allen announced on social media that he had picked up a Gamecock offer. He picked up the offer during a visit to Columbia.

Allen committed to Mississippi State back in September, but he has not shut down his recruitment. He has double-digit power conference offers and has interest in multiple programs in addition to MSU.

Allen has taken visits to several other programs since making his Bulldogs pledge. Auburn, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, and South Florida are among the teams that have hosted him in the past six months. Florida State and Vanderbilt have also been involved. Allen has scheduled official visits to Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, and Vanderbilt.

He previously announced a top six of Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and Florida State. The reveal of a list, plus his continually growing visit list (including his trip to South Carolina), further indicates Allen’s willingness to look beyond Mississippi State.

At 6-2 with solid athletic ability, Allen fits the mold of a Torrian Gray cornerback target. He has above-average length and smooth athleticism, traits that allow him to stay tight in man coverage and cover a lot of ground in zone.

Allen is a unanimous three-star prospect. According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, he is the No. 685 overall player in the class of 2027. He is also No. 72 nationally among all cornerbacks. Allen is the No. 78 recruit, regardless of position, in the loaded state of Georgia.
