WATCH: Jermaine O'Neal, Jr. throws down incredible alley oop in SMU vs. Arkansas State
SMU freshman guard Jermaine O’Neal, Jr. is coming off a strong showing with 15 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff Tuesday night, but Friday he really announced himself vs. Arkansas State.
Late in the game, O’Neal threw down an insane alley oop to put the 100-69 win over Arkansas State on ice. O’Neal finished with 11 points for his second-straight double-digit scoring night.
For a freshman, O’Neal has showed his confidence early on and for the second straight game, he showed why he’s playing with confidence as well.
Head coach Andy Enfield talked up O’Neal’s play Tuesday night as he saw one of his freshmen get comfortable against UAPB.

“Jermaine played well, he’s improved a lot, it was nice to get him some consistent minutes tonight,” Enfield said Tuesday night. “He had 15 points, five rebounds and played well defensively so we need him to keep doing that. He’s improved, we need our guys off the bench to rebound the ball and he had four defensive rebounds, which is impressive.”
O’Neal was a part of a highly-touted recruiting class for SMU, which remained undefeated with its win over Arkansas State Friday night. Monday night, the Mustangs welcome Radford to Moody Coliseum.
