DFW DT Keith Dotie commits to SMU
2026 Mesquite (Tex.) Poteet defensive lineman Keith Dotie has committed to SMU, he announced after a flurry of visits to the Hilltop. Dotie’s made numerous visits as of late since he picked up the offer from the Mustangs this year.
Dotie currently holds offers from SMU, Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas State, Houston, and UTEP, and more that have jumped into the mix.
SMU already has commitments from four prospects, including four-star running back Christian Rhodes, four-star wide receiver Xzavier Barnett, three-star quarterback Cole Leinart, and three-star safety Markel Ford.
SMU signed its bet high school class in recent history in 2025. Head coach Rhett Lashlee told On3’s Pete Nakos recently that everything is in place for the Mustangs to keep rolling.

“We’re doing a lot of the things as a university, as an athletic department, and as a football program that we need to do,” Lashlee said. “That’s why we’ve had back-to-back 11-win seasons. We’re in full alignment as a university, from our administration to our athletics department. We’re supporting our program and doing everything we can to compete at the highest level. We have to just continue to do that.”
Dotie is listed as 6’4 300 pounds and is a big piece to the future of the interior of the defensive line.
Between the transfer portal and high school recruiting, the Mustangs are on a roll.
