Purdue roars past Indiana to win in Assembly Hall
BLOOMINGTON — Behind a picturesque first half of basketball, second-ranked Purdue roared past Indiana 87-66 Tuesday night at Assembly Hall for a key Big Ten road win and a measure of revenge for last season’s rivalry losses.
Lance Jones‘ three-pointer from right in front of the IU bench in the final seconds of the first half capped a 51-point opening 20 minutes for the visitors, sending them to the locker room up 22, 51-29.

The second half was largely a formality.
In his last trip to IU, Zach Edey scored 33 and grabbed 14 rebounds. He had 18 and eight at half, as Purdue’s frontcourt dominated the Hoosiers’. Jones scored 17 in his first Indiana game and Fletcher Loyer scored 11 of his 19 in the first half, and in the second halted a few IU runs with key offensive plays.
After being down 22 at half, Indiana opened with a 13-2 burst, eventually getting within nine before the Boilermakers ultimately pushed their lead back into the 20 in the final minutes.
