Defensive tackle Isaac Chukwurah flips commitment from Penn State to Miami

Penn State lost another commitment in its Class of 2026 on Tuesday following defensive tackle Isaac Chukwurah’s decision to flip his commitment to Miami.

A native of Bear, Del., Chukwurah took an unofficial visit to Coral Gables this past weekend to watch the Hurricanes beat up on Syracuse, 38-10. It comes after an official visit to NC State last weekend and an unofficial visit to Syracuse last month.

“My experience with the Hurricanes was great today,” Chukwurah told Rivals national analyst Steve Wiltfong on Saturday evening. “I expected a lot and they lived up to the expectations. The crowd was loud and energetic, the defense played almost lights out and the defensive line got after it. How that elite defense played today excites me to want to play in that defense in my college career. It was an overall really good experience.”

Listed at 6-foot-2, 255 pounds, Chukwurah originally committed to Penn State in April. The Caravel Academy looked like a steal for defensive line coach Deion Barnes following a handful of very good showings at different camps this past spring and summer.

“He comes off the ball violently,” said Caravel Academy head coach John Reed. “He’s extremely fast for a player his size. His first step is what makes him. His burst off the ball is excellent. But also, he’s very long and has a motor to him. You’ll never see him take a play off.”

Chukwurah is ranked No. 521 nationally in the Industry Rankings. He’s the 54th-ranked defensive tackle and No. 2 overall in Delaware for his class. He’s now the ninth 2026 recruit to either formally decommit from Penn State or flip his commitment to another school. The Nittany Lions are now down to 16 commitments in the class.
