Ole Miss legacy Jayden Curtis commits to the Rebels

2026 Ocean Springs (Miss.) St. Martin defensive lineman Jayden Curtis has flipped his commitment to Ole Miss from UCF, he announced on Monday. The 6-3, 280-pounder earned an offer from the Rebels at camp in June and is now pledged to play for Randall Joyner.

He was committed to UCF, but flipped his pledge to the Rebels after visiting for the season opener vs. Georgia State. Minnesota, Memphis and Tulane were on him hard this summer as well.

According to Rivals, Curtis is the 66th-ranked defensive lineman in the country and the 26th-ranked prospect in Mississippi.

His father, Dwayne, played for Ole Miss Basketball and was named to the 2024 class of SEC Men’s Basketball Legends. His family can now see him play for the in-state program.

“It means a lot for me,” Curtis told Rebel Grove when he picked up the offer. “My dad played basketball at Ole Miss. It’s close to home. Five minutes away from my grandma’s house, it’s nice. It definitely makes a big impact.”

Working with Joyner at camp, Curtis saw what his future could be.

“I liked everything about it. Just competed with the other kids there and our group was the Powder group, we just competed today,” Curtis said. “He showed us how he wants things done. He coached us how he coaches his kids. He expected it at a high expectation. He wanted us to perform very well and give it our all. I like everything about it. He’s taking it slowly. He just wants us to give it our full every play.”

Watching Ole Miss win another 10 games this season, it was big as was the defensive line production jump.

“I’ve seen a lot of good things, especially D-line wise,” he said. “I’ve seen last year watching them the year before the D-line wasn’t doing as much and Walter Nolen, Princely Umanmielen, JJ Pegues came and they just dominated.”

Minnesota also offered Curtis after his camp performance. Now, he’s committed to Ole Miss after thinking things over since his initial commitment.
