Rodney Groce Jr. finds his final home at Ole Miss for 2024 season

Ole Miss added yet another transfer portal prospect Wednesday. Former Mississippi State/Arizona State/East Mississippi CC/UTSA linebacker Rodney Groce Jr., is now enrolled and eligible to play for the Rebels in 2024.

Groce began his college career in 2020 with the Bulldogs. He spent time at both Mississippi State and Arizona State during the 2021 calendar year before to Scooba, Miss., for the 2022 season. He then transferred to play for the Roadrunners and Jeff Traylor for the 2023 season.

He only played in four games in 2021 after just appearing in one during the shortened COVID season. After a brief stint in Tempe, he played for national junior college powerhouse EMCC. There he finished with 71 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions and recovered a pair of fumbles.

With four years of college complete, this is Groce’s “last dance”.

Groce played high school football at Pleasant Grove (Alabama) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 524 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He joins a loaded linebacker room which now features Pooh Paul, TJ Dottery, Suntarine Perkins, Tyler Banks and Khari Coleman. Groce previously played for Ole Miss defensive analyst Zach Arnett when he was at Mississippi State.

Last year, Groce played in six games for UTSA, making 11 tackles and defending one pass.
