'I don't really know about all that stuff': Lane Kiffin asked about Oher/Tuohy saga

The Michael Oher – Tuohy family saga that erupted on Monday centers around Ole Miss so it was natural that Lane Kiffin would get asked about the controversy surrounding the former offensive lineman.

During his media availability following Thursday’s practice Kiffin was asked if he has a relationship with Oher either from being the Ole Miss head football coach or from meeting him at a previous coaching stop.

Kiffin, who never shies away from being very blunt in his answers made it known he has his head in the sand with anything that does not pertain to the Rebels fall camp practices and preparation for the 2023 season.

Though for the first time the two did meet in person earlier this week when Oher was in Oxford for his book signing at Off Square Books on Tuesday.

“I actually had never met Michael until the other day. He was in town an came by,” Kiffin said. “I’m in the middle of training camp, so I don’t really know all about that stuff. All I know is, like, I have lived, what you read out there and what people say and what’s being written, it’s a lot of times nowhere near the truth. That can mean a lot of things.”

On Monday Oher, who was popularized by the biopic ‘The Blind Side,’ petitioned a Tennessee court with allegations that a key element of the 2009 film was a lie created by the Tuohy family to profit off his expense.

Sean Touhy is a former basketball standout at Ole Miss. A major financial contribution on his part made possible the construction of the Tuohy Basketball Center that opened in 2010.

Despite the controversy that arose 24 hours before Oher’s book signing there was still lengthy line of fans and supporters that filled Off Square Books and down the sidewalk towards South Lamar Boulevard.

Oher did not speak with the media after his signing on Tuesday, deferring any questions to his lawyers.
