Four Ole Miss Rebels land on preseason All-SEC teams
Not one Ole Miss offensive player landed an All-SEC nod, but four players in total landed on the preseason picks from the media at SEC Media Days.
Ole Miss star defender Suntarine Perkins was the lone defensive Second Team pick while defensive lineman Zxavian Harris and edge player Princewill Umanmielen landed on the Third Team. Western Kentucky transfer kicker Lucas Carnerio was selected for the Second Team.
Ole Miss earned one point to win the SEC Championship, landing seventh in the preseason poll. The 2024 Ole Miss Rebels went 10-3 overall, the third 10-win season in four years under Lane Kiffin.
The Rebels lost 63 lettermen and 20 starters off the 2024 edition of the team. Most preseason polls have Ole Miss in the Top 25, but there’s plenty to prove with so many new faces in Oxford.

Kiffin is confident in first-year starting quarterback Austin Simmons, who didn’t land a preseason All-SEC selection. South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and Texas quarterback Arch Manning landed the honors.
“Austin has to make sure he doesn’t have to try to be Jaxson (Dart),” Kiffin said Monday. “Jaxson wasn’t Jaxson the third year of Jaxson until he was a third year. He’ll be fine. He’s got elite talent. Does a great job. He’s maturing. Did a great job when he came in in the Georgia game. We’re excited about it.”
Texas has been predicted to win the 2025 SEC Championship. The Longhorns received 96 votes to be crowned SEC Champion on December 6 in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with Georgia being picked to be the Texas’ opponent in a rematch of the 2024 SEC Championship Game.
