Certainly, not the recipe for success for OU basketball. A lot of things were not executed very well. Players fouling out. But OU was able to avoid a déjà vu moment and get the win.

The Sooners did just enough in overtime to take down Colorado 90-86 on Wednesday night in Las Vegas in The Crown Basketball Tournament.

Xzayvier Brown iced the game at the free throw line and allowed OU fans to breathe that sigh of relief.

With OU up 88-85 and 03.9 seconds left, the Sooners elected to foul instead of letting Colorado get a 3-point attempt and a chance to tie.

Flashbacks to that fateful afternoon at Missouri where everything went wrong.

The Buffs did not execute after that. Missing the first free throw. Then attempting to miss the second but actually making it.

Tae Davis inbounded the ball to Brown, who was fouled. Knocked ‘em both down, and the Sooners move on in the quest for The Crown.

Head coach Porter Moser said certain guys were about to get more time, and Kuol Atak definitely made the most of his chances.

His 3-pointer with under two minutes left gave OU a 74-67 lead. However, the Sooners would not score again, and the Buffs tied the game with :01.6 seconds at 74.

Atak had 16 points, including making four 3-pointers with three rebounds, a block and a steal in 27 minutes.

The second half and overtime was time for Nijel Pack to shine. Pack missed his initial five 3-point attempts before making three in the second half and overtime.

Pack began overtime with back-to-back connections from downtown to finish with a team-high 20 points to go along with five assists.

Davis had 19 points, while Brown ended with 17 points.

Jadon Jones had six points and three blocks before fouling out. Derrion Reid fouled out with six minutes left in the second half, with just five points.

Wasn’t always pretty, but go ahead and move ‘em along in the bracket.

OU trailed by as many as 10 points and was down 41-37 at halftime. Pack’s first make from 3-point territory gave OU a 61-58 lead, its first advantage since the score was 4-2.

Center Mo Wague had seven points, eight rebounds, two blocks and three steals in 32 minutes.

It is the third consecutive 20-win season for Moser.
