If there's one position group that looks totally different this spring than a year ago for OU, it's tight end. With a new position coach in former Dallas Cowboys legend and future Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Witten and three newcomers from the transfer portal in Hayden Hansen, Rocky Beers and Jack Van Dorselaer, the Oklahoma tight end unit appears to have received a massive upgrade. Last season, other than Jaren Kanak, who was used more like a slot receiver than a real tight end, OU had little to no production from its tight ends. That's ultimately why coach Brent Venables decided to part ways with Joe Jon Finley. And so far, it sounds like Witten has the tight end room trending in the right direction.
