COLUMBUS – Ohio State women’s basketball has parlayed its on court success the season into more wins on the recruiting trail.

2027 Cleveland (Ohio) Brush guard Tatiana Mason has committed to Ohio State over Houston, Michigan State, Xavier and other mid-major offers. The Buckeyes were once again able to keep a highly-touted in-state prospect home.

Mason has been a top target for head coach Kevin McGuff and his staff for over a year. They offered Mason on June 18, 2025 but she visited the Buckeyes at least once before earning an offer. Mason visited Ohio State for the first time on Sept. 21, 2024. Her most recent visit was on Jan. 4 for the Buckeyes’ win over Rutgers, which likely helped seal the deal in the recruitment.

Mason’s father is former Cleveland Cavalier Chet Mason. The elder Mason won Ohio’s Mr. Basketball in 2000 before going on to star at Miami (OH) and earning time in the NBA. He has been the Brush head boys basketball coach for 10 seasons.

Ohio State now has two commitments in the 2027 class. Mason joins four-star point guard Myella Chapman out of Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O’Dowd in the Buckeyes’ class. Chapman is the No. 37 overall prospect and No. 5 point guard in the Rivals Industry Ranking.
