COLUMBUS – Taison Chatman finally flashed some of the potential he had as a prospect this past season after battling multiple injuries throughout his Ohio State career. He will now look to reach his full potential somewhere else.

Chatman announced on Wednesday that is entering the transfer portal after three seasons in Columbus.

“First and foremost, I want to give all glory and praise to my lord and savior Jesus Christ,” Chatman wrote on Instagram.

I’m truly grateful for my coaches, teammates and everyone at Ohio State for the relationships and experiences during my time here. It’s been an honor to represent Buckeye Nation.

After much thought and prayer, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal and continue my journey.”

Chatman averaged 4.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game this season while averaging 12.9 minutes a game. He appeared in 28 games for the Buckeyes and made three starts during the middle of the season while starting guard John Mobley Jr. recovered from a hand injury.

Chatman had a season high 14 points in Ohio State’s loss at Wisconsin on Jan. 31. He also had three other games this season with 11 points.

Jake Diebler wanted to retain Chatman but the Minnesota native elected to test the market. He will now search for a new home with two seasons of eligibility left.
