COLUMBUS – Ohio State continues to turnover its special teams room this offseason.

Former Cincinnati and Houston Christian punter Brady Young had decided to accept a preferred walk-on at Ohio State. Coming into Wednesday, the one special teams position that the Buckeyes had not added a player at was punter but Young changes that.

Young started his college career at Cincinnati in 2021. He spent four seasons with the Bearcats before deciding to enter the transfer portal last offseason looking for the opportunity to start.

Young eventually landed at Houston Christian. In his lone season with the Huskies, Young averaged 41.8 yards per punt on 69 attempts. He had 17 punts downed inside the 20.

Additionally, Young had 12 punts that went over 50 yards this past season. His long was a 66-yard kick against Northern Colorado.

Young, a Perrysburg, Ohio native, will provide Ohio State with depth at punter and challenge returning starter Joe McGuire for the job. McGuire will likely start but Young has the talent make things interesting this offseason. He joins for UCF long-snapper Dalton Riggs and former Baylor kicker Conner Hawkins as the new additions to the Buckeyes special teams room this offseason.
