BREAKING: Four-star PG Atlee Vanesko commits to Ohio State women's basketball

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State women’s basketball program got good news on Friday night.

Four-star Westtown (Pa.) guard Atlee Vanesko committed to the Buckeyes over Stanford, Miami, and Virginia Tech. The Cardinals and Hurricanes both hosted Vanesko for official visits this offseason but she ultimately picked Ohio State.

Vanesko has been a top target for Ohio State head coach Kevin McGuff and his coaching staff for over a year. They offered her in April of 2024. Vanesko then made her debut visit to Columbus in September to watch Ohio State beat Marshall in the Horseshoe. She was also on campus in February for the Buckeyes overtime win over Iowa.

During those visits Vanesko built a tight bond with Ohio State coaching staff.

“The coaches are amazing and it’s obviously a very good program,” Vanesko told Rivals’ Talia Goodman. “I think they’d develop me well. I want to play professionally, hopefully, and I think they’d do a good job developing me.”

Vanesko is also schedule to return to campus next month for an official visit. She will be on campus from Aug. 29-31 for the football program’s primetime matchup against Texas.

The 5-10 Vanesko is the first commitment for the Buckeyes in the 2026 class. McGuff and his staff are hoping to sign a big class this cycle.
