After over a year with NFL Network, Notre Dame legend Manti Te’o is moving on to ESPN.

Te’o, who starred at linebacker with the Irish and finished second in Heisman Trophy voting in 2012, announced Tuesday that he took a job with the Disney-owned enterprise. His exact role is yet to be announced, but he had been a full-time host on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football since May 2025. He joined the network itself in 2024.

After leaving South Bend, Te’o played 62 games across eight NFL seasons, many of which were heavily disrupted by injuries. He finished his four-year career with the Irish with 437 tackles, 34.0 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and 7 interceptions, all in that prolific 2012 season.

Notre Dame Tweets of the day

Expected for weeks, but it doesn’t make it hurt for the Irish any less.

This would be electric.

The best defensive player in the country.

Quote of the day

“It’s a good routine and something I’ll be able to come into pretty easily. The quarterback room is awesome; it’s like a family in there. Everyone has the same type of personality and mentality. There’s a great vibe. I’m excited about what we’re going to do and what Coach Gino [Guidugli] has going.

“Obviously, CJ [Carr] is the one who has all of the answers, and he’s kind of like a teacher now. He’s showing us how to go about things, along with Blake [Hebert], who knows a lot of things. Noah [Grubbs] and I were in there figuring things out. Everyone is very helpful; there’s no one being toxic. Everyone has a great vibe; jokes are flying around. Coach Gino and Coach Kurt [Rawlings] are amazing. It’s a brotherhood and a safe place. It’s not stressful or anything like that.”
