ATLANTA  — Seth Trimble will return to the lineup for North Carolina in Saturday’s game against Ohio State, multiple sources told Inside Carolina this week. Jeff Goodman of Field of 68 was the first to report the news. The school provided official confirmation on Friday afternoon that Trimble is medically cleared and expected to play.

Trimble completed his full week of full practice participation on Friday afternoon in Atlanta, and was spotted with the White practice unit, a source close to the situation told Inside Carolina. The Tar Heels will face Ohio State inside State Farm Arena on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Hubert Davis acknowledged Monday night on his radio show that Trimble was nearing his return: “When he’s ready, put him in the game,” Davis said on Monday. “He’s progressing nicely.”

Trimble, UNC’s four-year senior with 104 career games under his belt, averaged 14.5 points, five rebounds and 3.5 assists as a starter in the team’s first two games before being sidelined by a broken left arm suffered during a weight room accident.

Trimble played 30 minutes per game and shot 44% from the floor in those two games. His last appearance was the team’s win against Kansas on Nov. 7 He underwent surgery on his left arm the day after sustaining his injury. His initial timeline for recovery was projected at six to eight weeks, sources told Inside Carolina last month. This Saturday will mark 40 days (five weeks, five days) since his surgery.

During the team’s game against Radford, Trimble was seen on the sideline with a big, white cast over his left forearm. During the trip to Fort Myers, Trimble switched to a smaller black cast. Trimble was brace-free on the sidelines for UNC’s last two games.
