Inside Carolina's Internship Program

by: Ben Sherman04/01/26insidecarolina

For more than a decade, Inside Carolina has offered paid internship positions each season. Inside Carolina covers UNC athletics with a staff of experienced, professional journalists that are not affiliated with the University and are fully credentialed by UNC, the ACC and the NCAA. Inside Carolina’s annual paid internships provide valuable experience on one of the top college sports beats, guidance and training from an expert staff of reporters and editors, and a springboard to a career in the field.

See what some former interns have to say about their time at Inside Carolina …

“Without the internship with Inside Carolina, my career in sports media would have never gotten off the ground. I was not a journalism major at North Carolina, but the Inside Carolina staff recognized my passion for sports and storytelling. For that I am beyond grateful. You’d be hard-pressed to find an internship that has the combination of opportunity, guidance and freedom as Inside Carolina.” — Bryan Ives, Producer at ESPN

“Inside Carolina played an important role in my development as a journalist. During my time at IC I learned from seasoned sports journalists who gave me opportunities to be creative and try new things. As an IC intern I learned how to work on a tight deadline, cover live events, and work in front of and behind the camera; these are all skills I still use in my job today.” — Paige Hopkins, Reporter/Producer at Axios DC

“The entire IC team taught me how to be a professional, and I’m forever indebted to them for believing in me.” — Tate Frazier, Producer at Figures; Host at The Ringer
