NC State flips West Virginia LB commit Caleb Gordon on National Signing Day
NC State has been focused on trying to keep in-state talent close to home. And with the early signing period just a few days away, the Wolfpack was successful in flipping a local prospect away from a Big 12 program.
Gastonia (N.C.) Ashbrook three-star linebacker Caleb Gordon, who committed to West Virginia last Monday, flipped to NC State after a game day visit for the Wolfpack’s 42-19 win over North Carolina this past weekend.

Gordon was originally committed to Arkansas, but reopened his recruitment amid the Razorbacks’ coaching change in September. He picked West Virginia over a top two with Virginia, but NC State defensive coordinator and linebackers coach D.J. Eliot was able to swoop in to pull off the flip just nine days after picking the Mountaineers.
The 6-foot, 215-pound defender posted 128 total tackles, including 10 for a loss, with three sacks as a senior this past fall. He finished his high school career with 431 total tackles (28 for a loss), 10 total sacks, four forced fumbles and three interceptions.
