Mississippi State safety Stonka Burnside announces plans to enter transfer portal
The transfer portal doesn’t open for another month but there was already some movement with Mississippi State’s roster on Sunday. Redshirt freshman Stonka Burnside announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal on Sunday.
Burnside played in four games this season before opting to take a redshirt. The former On3 four-star prospect from Starkville High School had one rushing attempt for six yards in the season-opener against Southern Miss and also had one tackle against Arizona State.
As a true freshman in 2024, Burnside played in 11 games and saw most of his game reps on special teams. He finished the season with one reception on offense and four tackles on defense.

Burnside was mostly used as a receiver last season before making the move to safety this past spring.
Burnside was the second player on Sunday to announce intentions to enter the transfer portal, which officially opens on January 2nd. Earlier on Sunday, Mississippi State receiver Jordan Mosley reported his plans to enter the transfer portal although Mosley will have to seek a waiver to get a sixth year of eligibility.
