QB Luke Kromenhoek plans to transfer from Mississippi State
Mississippi State backup quarterback Luke Kromenhoek will be on the move after the Bulldogs’ bowl game in January.
On3 first reported that Kromenhoek will be entering the portal on Thursday and he will submit his name on January 2, the first day that the transfer period begins. That is also the day that the Bulldogs play Wake Forest in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, N.C. Sources told Maroon and White Daily that Kromenhoek has been participating in bowl prep and will be with State for the game.
Kromenhoek transferred to State last year after his freshman season at Florida State. In that 2024 season, Kromenhoek earned starting reps in two games and played in six games for the Seminoles while throwing for 502 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. He also ran for 113 yards on 63 carries.
This season, Kromenhoek battled it out with freshman Kamario Taylor and ultimately landed at third on the Bulldog depth chart. He played in two games earlier in the season and was 2-for-4 passing for 20 yards and had four carries for 24 yards and a touchdown run. As the season went on, Taylor won the battle at QB as the backup and eventually became the starter for State.
Kroenhoek was one of the highest rated players in the country out of high school as On3 had him as a five-star prospect and the No. 26 player nationally while ranking third in the country at QB and fourth overall in the state of Georgia.
