Dak Prescott continues to cement legacy with Cowboys
Dak Prescott is in the middle of one of his best seasons of his strong career as the quarterback of one of sports’ biggest brands.
Criticism comes with the territory when quarterbacking the Dallas Cowboys, but there haven’t been many justifiable arguments against Prescott’s play this year. One of his biggest moments came on Sunday evening against one of the Cowboys’ top rivals.
After trailing 21-0 in the first half against the Philadelphia Eagles, Prescott manufactured 24-unanswered points including a game-winning drive as time expired. In that 2 minute drill, Prescott drove the team down the field and got the Cowboys to a chip shot field goal for Brandon Aubrey to win 24-21.
Prescott finished the game 23-of-36 for 354 yards, two touchdowns and one interception and he had another rushing touchdown in the game. It was the most passing yards and total offense surrendered by the Eagle defense all season long and the first time a team has had over 400 yards against them.
Most notably, Prescott became the franchise’s all-time leading passer as he passed Tony Romo with 34,378 yards. Prescott is also first in franchise history in completions (3,056), completion percentage (67%), interception percentage (2.0), QB Rating (98.5) and rushing touchdowns by a QB (31). He’s second in passing touchdowns (236), rushing yards by a QB (2,064) and passing attempts (4,557) and has the third most wins (81). He’s accomplished all of these numbers while currently playing in the fourth most games in Cowboy history with 133. Prescott is in his 10th season in the NFL. Romo played 13 seasons and Troy Aikman 12.

The win tied for the largest comeback in franchise history and gave Prescott his 25th fourth quarter or overtime come from behind win which is the most in Dallas history. Under Prescott’s leadership, the Cowboys are 22-2 against the NFC East at home and haven’t lost a conference home game since 2017.
During Prescott’s career, the former Mississippi State great has been named to the Pro Bowl three times, he’s been named an All Pro once, was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2016 and was named the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2022.
The triumph was a big one for the Cowboys, but there is still much work to do for Prescott and his team. Dallas is currently 5-5-1 on the year and still behind the Eagles’8-3 mark. Six games remain this season for the Cowboys beginning with Thanksgiving Day’s home matchup with Kansas City at 3:30 on CBS this Thursday.
