Michigan landed its class of 2026 kicker commit Thursday afternoon. Jacob Baggett, a specialist out of Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day, pledged to the Wolverines after picking up an offer from the Wolverines last week.

Chris Sailer Kicking considers the senior U-M commit the No. 8 kicker in the country. He picked Michigan over offers from Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Marshall and others. Baggett is the only specialist commit in the class.

He connected on 6 of 7 field goal attempts as a senior with a long of 48 yards. The future Wolverines’ only miss came from 51 yards out. Baggett also says he holds the record for the most touchbacks in North Carolina high school history. He booted 102 kickoffs during his 2025 season, and 95 of them ended in a touchback.

“Jacob is a fantastic high school kicking prospect,” Sailer wrote. “He is a great looking athlete with a live leg. Jacob does an outstanding job on field goal. He hits a pure ball, gets great height on easily has 55+ yard range. His kickoffs are strong, D1 ready. Jacob drives the ball 65+ yards, with 4.15+ hang time. He is a competitor who thrives under pressure. There is big upside here. Jacob has all the tools to dominate at the next level. Look for him to dominate his senior season picking up additional college offers along the way. He is a pleasure to work with. Excellent prospect. OFFER NOW!!!”

The Wolverines needed to find a kicker for this cycle after Micah Drescher, the program’s longtime pledge, asked for a release from his signing with the program. Former Michigan long snapper commit Colton Dermer flipped to Georgia as well. Special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs was Baggett’s primary recruiter.
