Michigan Wolverines football offensive lineman Lawrence Hattar has withdrawn from the NCAA transfer portal, signaling a return to the program for the 2026 season under new head coach Kyle Whittingham, offensive coordinator Jason Beck and position coach Jim Harding.

The 6-foot-5, 335-pounder spent four seasons at Division-II Ferris State (2021-24), helping the Bulldogs win two national championships (2022, 2024). He was a reserve offensive lineman at Michigan in 2025. It appears Hattar has remaining eligibility.

A depth player at guard, Hattar appeared in four games for Michigan in 2025, all in the first month of the season. He played on offense against Oklahoma and Central Michigan, totaling 19 snaps, and appeared on special teams against New Mexico, OU, CMU and Nebraska.

Hattar’s offensive snaps came at left guard (nine) and right guard (nine), along with one play as an extra blocker on the end of the line.

During Michigan’s final bowl practice of the season, TheWolverine.com did not spot Hattar working in the two-deep, instead likely taking reps on scout team. Despite injuries on the offensive line in the bowl game, a 41-27 loss to Texas in the Citrus, he didn’t see game action.

Hattar, who played left guard, helped Ferris State (Big Rapids, Mich.) win the 2024 national championship, with the Bulldogs beating Valdosta State, 49-14, in the title game in McKinney, Texas. After being crowned champions again last month, the Bulldogs have now won the title in three of the last four seasons, including in 2024 and 2022 when Hattar was on the team.

The Livonia, Mich., native was a first-team All-American in 2024, according to the AFCA. He was also tabbed as a first-team All-American and a member of the Elite 100 Team by D2Football.com. He was also recognized as first-team all-conference in the GLIAC.

Hattar played in 10 games for Ferris State in 2023, two in 2022 and none in 2021.

An unranked recruit, Hattar attended Livonia (Mich.) Churchill.
