Michigan football has 12 defensive/special teams players make All-Big Ten teams
The Michigan Wolverines had 12 players receive all-conference recognition from the Big Ten on Wednesday on the defensive and special teams sides.
The list is led by senior edge rusher Derrick Moore, who made the first team. He posted 29 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks on the season, along with 3 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. The team captain led the Big Ten in sacks during league play this season.
Michigan has two second-team honorees in senior linebacker Jimmy Rolder (second team, coaches and media) and defensive back Zeke Berry (second team, media; third team, coaches). Rolder had 69 tackles, including 7.0 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks along with 3 passes defended, a fumble recovery and an interception. Berry had a team-high 11 passes defended with an interception and 28 tackles.
Three players made the All-Big Ten third team in graduate defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny (third team, coaches and media) and senior linebacker and captain Ernest Hausmann (third team, media; honorable mention, coaches). Benny led Michigan’s defensive linemen with 31 total tackles to go with 3.0 tackles for loss with 1.5 sacks, defending 2 passes and recovering a fumble. Hausmann had 68 tackles for the Wolverines, with 5.5 tackles for loss, a sack and a pass breakup. The third was long-snapper Greg Tarr, who was named to the third team by the media.

Other honorable mentions included senior linebacker Jaishawn Barham (coaches), junior defensive back Jyaire Hill (coaches and media), junior defensive back Brandyn Hillman (coaches and media), junior defensive back TJ Metcalf (coaches), defensive tackle Trey Pierce (media) and kicker Dominic Zvada (coaches).
Sophomore linebacker Cole Sullivan was the team’s sportsmanship honoree.
Michigan went 9-3 during the regular season and will find out its postseason fate on Sunday when bowl matchups are revealed. Most projections have them heading to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida, likely to play an SEC opponent, on Dec. 31. Rumors have them set to take on the Texas Longhorns.
