Legacy S Charles Woodson Jr. commits to Michigan
Michigan continued its hot streak on the recruiting trail and landed a top priority legacy recruit Friday afternoon. Three-star safety Charles Woodson Jr. is officially a part of the Wolverines’ 2027 recruiting class.
This was a long-anticipated decision from the son of a program legend. Woodson racked up offers from Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Oregon and Kentucky over the past year, but Michigan prioritized him and landed his pledge before official visits.
He’s the No. 617 recruit in the country and the No. 65 safety in the class. Woodson received Navy All-American recognition after his junior season.
The 5-11 defensive back recorded 73 total tackles as a junior, recording 2 interceptions that he returned for an average of 81.5 yards, defending 8 passes and forcing 1 fumble. He scored 2 touchdowns— one on a kickoff return and one after an interception.
Woodson most recently visited Michigan April 11, his first trip to campus since a game day visit last fall. After that first day in Ann Arbor, he spoke about the experience.

“It’s Michigan,” Woodson said last fall. “It’s a big school, a big program. I haven’t really been to any other schools, so I can’t really say what it’s like compared to other schools. But, my first game day visit and everything, I like it up there a lot. That’s all I can really say.”
Michigan’s new staff arrived in Ann Arbor and made him a priority right away. Woodson met with almost the entire defensive staff, starting his new relationships with the program off on a positive note.
“They think I can impact recruiting the 2027 class,” Woodson said after that meeting.
Woodson is the tenth commit in a class that now ranks No. 12 nationally after the program’s recent run of commitments. He’s the second safety pledge of the cycle and joins Top 100 defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad, Top 100 wide receiver Quentin Burrell, Rivals300 edge rusher Recarder Kitchen, Rivals300 offensive lineman Jakari LIpsey, Rivals300 edge rusher Jayce Brewer, Rivals300 quarterback Kamden Lopati, three-star offensive lineman Sidney Rouleau, three-star offensive lineman Louis Esposito and three-star safety Maxwell Miles in the class.
