BREAKING: LSU lands Top 5 transfer Princewill Umanmielen
LSU made another big splash in the transfer portal, as the Tigers added former Ole Miss pass-rusher Princewill Umanmielen.
Umanmielen committed to LSU after his name was officially entered into the NCAA Transfer Portal database on Wednesday morning.
As a result of a signed deal with the Rebels, Ole Miss was reportedly set to fight against entering Umanmielen into the NCAA Transfer Portal, but with the NCAA deadline to enter players into the portal who requested a transfer having arrived, the school entered his name into the transfer database on Wednesday morning.
A return to Ole Miss was on the table for Umanmielen, but most believed if that was going to be the result, the talented pass rusher would have withdrawn his request and not have his name entered into the portal.
Now, he’s headed to Baton Rouge to join his former head coach as part of an impressive portal haul of more than 40-plus signees for first-year head coach Lane Kiffin.
Umanmielen is a Top 5 prospect and No. 1 EDGE rusher on the On3 Industry Transfer Portal rankings, making him one of the most-coveted players in the portal this offseason.

Umanmielen spent two seasons at Nebraska before transferring to Ole Miss ahead of the 2025 season.
During his time in Oxford, Umanmielen totaled 45 tackles, 9.0 sacks, a pass breakup and interception. He played a major role in leading Ole Miss to arguably the most memorable season in Rebels football history. Not only did Ole Miss finish the regular season 11-1 (the most wins in a regular season in school history), but the Rebels also made the College Football Playoff for the first time as well.
He arrived in Oxford following a two-year stay with Nebraska. During his time with the Cornhuskers, Umanmielen totaled 35 tackles including 15 solo. He had 1.5 sacks during his first two seasons in Lincoln.
Coming out of high school, Umanmielen was a four-star recruit according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 227 overall recruit in the country and the No. 22 EDGE rusher in the 2023 class.
