USA beats China 122-57 in FIBA U19 World Cup as Maddyn Greenway dishes out nine assists
USA went 3-0 in the group stage following a 114-40 win over Israel on Tuesday, and they continued their winning ways against China in the Round of 16. The red, white and blue won 122-57, and Maddyn Greenway continued to have the theme of providing production despite dealing with shooting struggles.
It was just a 10-point game following the first quarter, and it looked like China would have a shot at keeping up with USA for a while. However, USA’s star power put them over the top. An explosive 40-point second quarter set the precedent for the rest of the game, and just like that, USA is 4-0 in the FIBA U19 World Cup.
Greenway continued to struggle to put the ball in the basket, just recording four points on 1-5 shooting from the field. However, in her 20 minutes of action, the five-star point guard also logged a team-best nine assists, setting up her teammates to do the scoring.
Only Sienna Betts (21) eclipsed the 20-point mark against China, but Saniyah Hall (19) and Jazzy Davidson (18) weren’t too far behind.
