Tyler Herro will represent Kentucky in the NBA 3-point contest
Damian Lillard will vie to become the first ever 3-peat champion in the NBA 3-point contest over All Star weekend, but in order to do so, he’ll have to get through former Kentucky Wildcat Tyler Herro. The self-proclaimed Bucket will participate in his second 3-point contest and hope to bring the title back into the circle of the the Big Blue Nation alumni.
In addition to Herro and Lillard, the NBA 3-point contest will feature Jalen Brunson (Knicks), Cade Cummingham (Pistons), Darius Garland (Cavaliers), Buddy Hield (Warriors), Cameron Johnson (Nets), and Norman Powell (Clippers).
Herro last took part in the event during the event two years ago, but failed to advance to the second round, posting a score of 18 in his debut.
Herro is making a career-best 3.8 3-pointers per game this season for the Miami Heat at a 38.8 percent clip. It is that kind of shooting that has propelled him to become an All Star for the first time in his career. With former teammate Jimmy Butler on the move to Golden State, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo are the face of the Miami Heat right now.

If Herro were to win the 3-point contest, he would become the third former Wildcat to take home the trophy, joining Devin Booker who won the contest in 2018 and Karl-Anthony Towns who won it all in 2022.
Even though BBNBA players have only won it twice, they have been well represented. Herro’s participation will ensure a former Kentucky player will have been in the contest in eight of the last 10 years.
Go get that hardware, Bucket.
