Ty Bryant Earns Academic All-American Honors
Ty Bryant is an essential building block of the Kentucky football roster. It’s not just because he’s an All-SEC talent in the back of the secondary. The Kentucky safety does all of the little things right on and off the field. He’s being recognized for the latter.
Bryant has been named a First Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communications. He’s the first Wildcat since Will Levis to receive the distinction and the 23rd in program history to earn Academic All-American honors.
A communications major, boasts a 3.77 grade-point average and has twice been elected to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll. In between his studies, he serves in leadership roles with UK’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council and the SEC’s Football Leadership Council.
The off-field accolades follow his best college football season to date. He started in all 12 games and led the team with 76 tackles. He also had a pair of tackles for loss and led the SEC with four interceptions.

“He’s a program builder. He’s a leader. He’s all-conference. He is a phenomenal person,” Will Stein said recently. “His dad played football here with my dad, so, obviously, that connection piece was huge, but he’s a damn good ball player, and we wanted to make sure that he was on this team.”
That’s something you probably did not know. Cisco Bryant and Matt Stein played together at Kentucky in the 80s. Now, their sons get a chance to rebuild this proud Kentucky football program.
