Kentucky Transfer Portal Watch: Savion Washington commits to Colorado
Coach Prime is already making some noise in Boulder. The new Colorado head coach figures to make big recruiting waves now that he is running an FBS program. On Monday afternoon, the Buffaloes got some good news in the transfer portal when Savion Washington committed to Colorado.
The Kent State right tackle will continue his playing career in the Pac-12.
Savion Washington (6-8, 342) received an offer from Kentucky offensive line coach Zach Yenser shortly after entering the transfer portal, but there was a ton of interest in the Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary product. BYU, Colorado, Kentucky, NC State, and Oklahoma State were all power five programs to issue a verbal scholarship offer to Washington. However, the allure of playing for Deion Sanders appeared to win out.

It’s worth noting that Colorado hired Kent State head coach Sean Lewis to be its offensive coordinator in 2023. That certainly didn’t hurt in the recruitment of Washington. The right tackle will now get to follow his former head coach to this new destination. The former low three-star recruit will be a redshirt junior in the fall with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
For Kentucky, the Cats have addressed the offensive line with the additions of Tanner Bowles and Marques Cox out of the transfer portal. However, the offensive line could use another true tackle. Expect the coaching staff to still look at options in the portal as this offseason progresses.
