Ls Down: A tradition unlike any other

There is never a moment when throwing the Ls down is inappropriate. Sure, Ls down in the wild can be petty when done outside of the Kentucky-Louisville rivalry game. But there is never a bad time to flash the upside-down L, even when in the gallery at one of the most exciting Masters golf tournaments in history.

On Sunday, one Kentucky fan went double-barreled Ls down from behind the rope as Rory McIlroy celebrated his first Masters championship. As McIlroy walked to accept his first green jacket after completing the career grand slam, the CBS broadcast caught a double Ls down in the crowd behind McIlroy’s victory lap.

Given the circumstances and the Masters viewership, was Sunday’s Ls down on CBS the most visible Ls down of all time? On Monday, the culprit called KSR to explain.

Carter did it

On Monday’s KSR, Ryan Lemond heard from a caller, Carter, who was traveling home from Augusta and revealed that he shot the double-barreled Ls down to CBS outside Butler Cabin. Carter told Ryan that he wore a Kentucky polo and Keene Trace hat to Sunday’s round and that he saw an opportunity to rattle the Card cage when he found himself at the right place at the right time.

Carter also mentioned seeing several Kentucky fans around Augusta National, including one of the green-jackets, who gave him a “Go Cats,” and two security guards from the Lexington area.
