Kentucky WBB named a finalist for 4-star forward Mimi Thiero

Could another member of the Thiero family suit up to play hoops for the Wildcats?

On Monday, four-star class of 2026 power forward Mimi Thiero announced she is down to a dozen finalists. Kentucky women’s basketball made the cut, as did Louisville, Memphis, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Florida, Michigan, Oregon, Clemson, North Carolina, Maryland, and Georgia Tech. Kentucky head coach Kenny Brooks offered Thiero, who was previously being recruited to UK by former head coach Kyra Elzy, back in May.

A relationship has quickly developed since then.

Of note, Thiero is the younger sister of Adou Thiero, who played two seasons with the Kentucky men’s basketball program (2022-24) before eventually making his way to the NBA earlier this year.

“It’s been great. My brother went to Kentucky, so I already knew about the program,” Thiero recently told Rivals’ Talia Goodman. “The SEC is a great conference. They’re also a really great school.”

Thiero intends to officially visit Kentucky in September. The 6-foot-4 post player, ranked as the No. 40 overall rising high school senior in the country, will also take OVs to Clemson, Michigan, Georgia Tech, and North Carolina. Thiero has said in the past she would like to make a commitment decision around November.

Brooks already has Kentucky in great shape with the 2026 recruiting class. The Wildcats hold two commitments in this cycle, both of them considered five-star talents. PG Maddyn Greenway (No. 9 overall) and CG Savvy Swords (No. 11) make up an impressive backcourt duo of incoming ‘Cats. Thiero could be the frontcourt piece that ties the group together.
