Kentucky CB Andre Stewart enters transfer portal
The second transfer portal window of the college football offseason officially opened on Saturday. Kentucky did not have to wait long for the first roster departure.
Redshirt freshman cornerback Andre Stewart will be looking for a new home after just one season in Lexington, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz.
A former Auburn commit, Stewart (5-11, 184) was a high three-star recruit in the class of 2022 out of Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb. The top-600 prospect was added to a position of need and was one of UK’s early wins in the 2022 recruiting cycle. Stewart owned listed offers from Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Miami, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Louisville, Oregon, Tennessee and others during the recruiting process.

Stewart took a redshirt season in his first year on campus followed by Kentucky adding two transfers — Jantzen Dunn and JQ Hardaway — in December. Meanwhile, fellow redshirt freshman Elijah Reed got some reps with the twos during spring camp. All those developments likely played a role in Stewart’s transfer decision.
Kentucky is down to eight scholarship cornerbacks with 2023 signees Nasir Addison and Avery Stuart scheduled to report to campus this summer. Stewart is the third 2022 signee to enter the transfer portal following Kobi Albert (Mississippi State) and Kiyaunta Goodwin (Florida).
