The transfer portal is over and Kentucky’s coaching staff is now working furiously on the road as the 2027 high school class comes into focus. Team-building never really stops in modern college football. The Wildcats are still filling out the 2026 roster. Another addition was made on Tuesday.

Mount Washington (Ky.) Bullitt East tailback Jay’Quan Crawford will join Will Stein‘s program this summer. The in-state prospect has committed to the Cats.

The class of 2026 recruit is currently unranked in the Rivals Industry Ranking. Jay’Quan Crawford rushed for 539 yards and five touchdowns as a senior. Crawford was on Kentucky’s campus in January for a visit. Kentucky director of high school relations Mark Perry extended the offer to Crawford in December. A commitment followed just one month later. WKU, EKU, and Louisville were all actively recruiting the in-state tailback.

Jay’Quan Crawford will join a running backs room that has six scholarship players in it with new position coach Kolby Smith taking over in Lexington. Jason Patterson and Tovani Mizell are the only returnees. Kentucky added Texas transfer CJ Baxter Jr. and Oklahoma transfer Jovantae Barnes from the portal. UK also signed three-star recruit Deuce Alston during the early signing period.
