A recruiting dead period is right around the corner. Kentucky will host one final junior day this weekend as the 2027 big board is taking shape at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility. The Wildcats recent made a strong impression for a defensive line target.

Boca Raton (Fla.) West Boca Raton EDGE Javion Herrington made his way from South Florida up to Lexington last weekend for an unofficial visit with Kentucky. Will Stein’s program made a splash with the three-star prospect.

“The trip was a good trip. I enjoyed everything that Kentucky had to offer me,” Herrington told Rivals’ Marcus Benjamin. The staff and program were great, filled with good, high-energy people, and that’s the type of people I would enjoy being around, so them showing that it’s real love helps with recruiting me.”

Javion Herrington made the trip with top-100 prospect Jamar Thompson. The defensive line recruits are teammates at West Boca Raton. Kentucky is not the only SEC school recruiting Herrington. Tennessee has established a strong relationship with Herrington. Auburn is also involved in this race. Miami is another program to watch. This recruiting battle remains wide-open.

Kentucky coaches spent a period this week in South Florida visiting recruiting and handing out offers. Before making their way down to that fertile recruiting area, the Cats got two big targets on campus in the middle of a winter storm. Javion Herrington is a name worth monitoring as the 2027 cycle comes into focus.
