Kentucky is finalist for 2027 QB Carson White

The transfer portal will have everyone’s attention when the calendar turns to January, but new Kentucky head coach Will Stein wants high school recruiting to be this program’s backbone. The start of a big recruiting cycle will officially begin next month when we get to junior days and coaches hitting the road. The expectation is that UK will hit the ground running once a staff is in place.

A new name emerged on Monday. Rosharon (Texas) Iowa Colony quarterback Carson White is a four-star recruit in the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking. The prospect trimmed his list to eight schools on Monday. Kentucky made the cut along with Auburn, Baylor, Houston, Kansas State, UCF, Utah, and Virginia Tech.

Houston appears to be the clubhouse leader at this point in the recruitment. Kansas State is also considered a serious contender. Kentucky offered the Texas quarterback back in April.

Carson White threw for 32 touchdowns and six interceptions as a sophomore while also adding in two rushing touchdowns. It does not appear that Oregon was actively recruiting the 2027 prospect, but Stein does have ties in Texas from his time spent in the state as a quality control assistant with the Texas Longhorns, an offensive coordinator at Austin (Texas) Lake Travis, and three seasons as a full-time assistant at UTSA. Kentucky could make a big push in the upcoming months.

Buford (Ga.) High quarterback DJ Hunter remains Kentucky’s only commit in the 2027 cycle. The three-star prospect remains firm in his commitment but things can change quickly in recruiting. Once a staff is in place, we should see Kentucky hit the 2027 class hard as Stein will look to build his first full high school recruiting class.
